Story Bird:
Clarence
We
often buy our Umbrella
Cockatoo,Clarence various toys
for inside and outside his cage,
and one day we discovered a rope
toy in the shape of a figure
eight. Thinking that Clarence
would really like this toy we
duly purchased it and installed
it in his cage. We were
right, Clarence really loved his
new toy and would spend ages
chomping on the rope, and we
thought no more about it. One day
we went shopping and we were gone
for some time, and when we
returned, the first thing that we
noticed was that Clarence was
quite still hanging in an unusual
position.
What
had happened was that Clarence
had chewed a hole in the rope and
then got his leg caught in it,
god knows how long he had been
like that, we had to cut the
offending rope off his leg, an
operation that was made worse by
Clarence being in a panic.
All
ended happily, but it could have
been so much different, now we do
not place rope toys in the cage
that are big enough for Clarence
to stand on.We also check any
rope toys for holes being bitten
into them and i advise every one
else to do the same
