Story Bird: LeePe
"Had a major scare last night with
LeePe. He was playing on his
boings and all the toys between the
two and hanging in them. I looked
over at him and he was leaning
sideways into this toy, standing on
his boing, not moving an inch. I
called his name as I was hopping
up.....got to him...he wasn't
moving but his eyes were open...all
I could think of was he was
dead.....or seizing. I moved the
toy and he came right with
it.....and just leaned hanging onto
the chain. Well then he opened his
mouth...by then T. was there and
freaking...and I saw that the split
ring-O ring, jump ring...what ever
you want to call it......was caught
on his lower beak......so I got it
off and he got held for a long
time.........one big pity
party...it was
the appropriate size..and closed as
well as possible.
Birdsafe Note: This was a "solid ring" that has one opening which is closed, but strong birds can get these open. These type rings and split rings (key rings) are very dangerous and only solid rings, quicklinks, or toy hangers should be used to hang toys.
