Story Bird: Dewey
The dangers of
household toxins.
My husband and I rescued a 7 year old Green Cheeked Amazon a year and a half
ago. She was in critical condition and the previous owner could no longer care
for her, as she required injections and nebulizing. Unfortunately, Dewey's owner
used Windex and Pledge in the home, which caused her air sacs and lungs to scar,
so breathing became extremely difficult. We had several endoscopies done, as
well as placed her on Celebrex, but to no avail.
Sadly, Dewey crossed over the Rainbow Bridge March 19, 2002. The long term
effects of using these toxins is lethal to our feathered kids.
